I’ve been partying in the scene for well over a decade now and thought it was about time I gave something back to my fellow rave community, by sharing a bit of the creative knowledge I’ve picked along the way from listening/seeing some great DJs from the likes of jump up legends Heist and Hazard to the Deep Jungle Drums of Hype and DJ Rap to just name a few.

In my early days, I was mad on the Pogues (RIP Shane MacGowan). Me Mam and Dad surprised me with a visit to Newcastle to watch them, where Dropkick Murphy’s was their supporting act. Needless to say, I fell in love with their attitude straight away. That then snowballed me down the punk route, researching and then getting tickets to gigs of the likes of Stiff Little Fingers, UK Subs, Flogging Molly’s, Cockney Rejects, among others. My Dad was always playing Dean Martin, so I have a soft spot for swing (who knows could be a bootleg on the way 😉). Not forgotten, he would also play the absolute god himself, Mr Johnny Cash and with that, my love of old-school country/rock and roll was born. 

I’m sure your pondering maybe even scratching that head to how I’ve gotten so far in the opposite direction, I’ve got my uncle Marv to thank, all them years of being a passenger in his many beat up Escort vans listening to his personalised rigged sound system subwoofers perforating my eardrums to the sounds of early 90s DnB/Jungle while the air thick, the bass heavier than sense (and a certain distinct green-scented atmosphere we’re probably not allowed to talk about 😂). It was at that moment that my love for them, deep vibrations, was born. 

So just to wrap it up, if Drum & Bass isn’t your cup of tea, I’m sure I've got a vinyl in the stash somewhere I can spin that’ll get those hips shaking.
